Epic Spring

So Far it's been an epic Spring. Lots of runs on the Boquet, Branch, and John's Brook. We're two, maybe three weeks into spring kayaking season, we've gotten on lots of stuff, and it hasn't even rained yet.

over the weekend I hooked up with Tom Vickery, Phil LeMarche, Dave Carouso, and Bill Frazer for a proud run of John's Brook from the Ranger cabin. The hike was brutal with knee deep snow in some places. I ended up having to leave the crew early for dinner with my parents. It was a tough decision but I made my 92 year old grand mother very happy. As it turns out I missed some srious excitement downstream.

Words can not descrbe how thrilled I am to be a kayaker right now.

$1,000 and a couple of days later we were back on the road heading for Asheville. We got to run the Green at 100% on Friday a couple of times, Saturday we got on the Green at 200% for another couple of laps. On Sunday we got on the Linville Gorge which was probably one of the finest river experiences of my life. Bill was excited to get to the end of the 50 minute hime out of the gorge.

Monday, after a lot of useless driving, and a good mountain bike ride we loaded the car and headed north. We made it back to New York on Tuesday afternoon in time to meet up with Eric for a couple runs on the Branch. It's definitely spring in the Adirondacks. Can't wait for what's coming up.

We Were Off To A Great Start

Spring Break 08 was off to a great start, Bill and I paddled the Big Sandy on Saturday, the Upper Gauley on Sunday, went for an epic mountain bike ride in Douthat on Monday, camped in the rain, and then went for another epic mountain bike ride on Tuesday. Just as we were attempting to change locations to Asheville the clutch stopped working on my truck. So here I am , stuck in Blacksburg for what appears to be an indefinite amount of time at the moment
